ACCREDITATION OF DEBT ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES - AMENDMENT TO FAIR DEBT POLICY

Purpose:

To update the Leader of the Council on the development of an accreditation scheme to cover debt enforcement agencies by the Enforcement Conduct Board (ECB) and consider changing the Council’s Fair Debt Policy to reflect this change.

 

Decision:

The Leader of the Council agreed the recommendations as outlined above namely:

 

  1. For the Council to welcome the development of the Accreditation Scheme established by the Enforcement Conduct Board and encourage all such agencies to apply for this status. 

 

  1. To agree that the Council will only employ enforcement agents and agencies who are accredited through this process.  

 

  1. To instruct the Director of Resources to amend the Fair Debt Policy to reflect this change.
