12/03/2024 - Surrender of existing leases in relation to Blackpool Courts ref: 2694    Recommendations Approved

To agree to the surrender of existing lease agreements in relation to facilities currently occupied by HM Courts and Tribunal Service at Chapel Street, Blackpool (Blackpool Magistrates and County Courts (Civic Centre)).

Decision:

To agree to accept the surrender of the existing lease agreements held by HM Courts and Tribunal Service.

 

To agree to all other necessary legal arrangements, which allow for the legal surrender of facilities to the Council, subsequently permitting the demolition of the facilities to take place.

 


12/03/2024 - WARD COUNCILLOR FUNDING ref: 2691    Recommendations Approved

The Council's delegated budgets scheme allocates budgets of £7,000 to each Ward Councillor covered for the financial year 2023/2024. The funding for this scheme can be spent on supplementing funding public services, for the benefit of the local community.

 

Councillor Sarah Smith of Marton ward has requested:

(i) £200 as a ward councillor funding donation to Blackpool Art Society, towards the cost of Arts in the Park painting competition in Stanley Park.

 

Councillor Shaun Brookes of Marton ward has requested:

(i) £200 as a ward councillor funding donation to Blackpool Art Society, towards the cost of Arts in the Park painting competition in Stanley Park.

 

Councillor Emma Ellison of Norbreck ward has requested:

(i) £1,060 as a ward councillor funding donation to The Friends of Anchorsholme Park, towards the cost of events being held in the Park.

(ii) £1,764 as a ward councillor funding donation to Bispham with Norbreck Gala, towards the running costs of the Gala in 2024.

(iii) £500 as a ward councillor funding donation to Blackpool Music School Charity, towards the costs of Blackpool Music School Rock Band performance in Anchorsholme Park in June 2024.

(iv) £500 as a ward councillor funding donation to Blackpool Brass Band, towards the costs of the purchase of second hand brass instruments to loan out the children for lessons.

11/03/2024 - ANCHORSHOLME COAST PROTECTION - APPLICATION TO THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GROYNES ref: 2688    Recommendations Approved

To seek approval for the Council to apply for further funding for the Anchorsholme Coast Protection Scheme to fund the installation of groynes and to seek approval to enter into a Deed of Variation to the original Anchorsholme Coast Protection Scheme Contract   to enable  the construction of  the groynes.

  1. To grant the Authority to make an application to the Environment Agency by means of a variation to the original Anchcorsholme Coast Protection scheme for additional funding to enable groynes to be constructed at the Anchorsholme Coast Protection Scheme.

 

  1. To approve the design and construction of the groynes to be carried out by the original contractor for the Anchorsholme Coast Protection scheme by means of Deed of Variation to the original contract.

The Head of Licensing Service deals with a number of requests for licences under the Licensing Act, the Gambling Act and other pieces of legislations. Details of the licences, applied for and granted are outlined in the report.

07/03/2024 - TALBOT GATEWAY PHASE 3 - OFFICE ACCOMMODATION ref: 2686    Recommendations Approved

To approve the development of a site within The Talbot Gateway (Central Business District) as grade ‘A’ office accommodation and to authorise the execution of the Contracts necessary to facilitate this Development.

 

This report updates EX25/2021, the ONKD of 27th September 2021 and the ONKD of 1st December 2022.
