APPLICATION FOR THE VARIATION OF A PREMISES LICENCE- CHRISTINE'S HOTEL

a. APPLICATION AND REPRESENTATIONS SUBMITTED. To consider the attached report

b. DETERMINATION OF THE APPLICATION FOR THE VARIATION OF A PREMISES LICENCE- Christine’s Hotel

c. ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DECISION FOR THE VARIATION OF A PREMISES LICENCE- Christine’s Hotel

Minutes:

The Licensing Panel considered an application for the variation of the Premises Licence in respect of Christine’s Hotel, 1 Lord Street.

The Panel noted that the representation received from the Police had subsequently been withdrawn as the following conditions had been agreed with the Police:

1.      That an adequate number of licensed door supervisors will be on duty as appropriate to any risk assessment, however on the following occasions at least one SIA registered member of door staff will be on duty from 20.00 hours until close

-          Every Friday and Saturday

-          Bank holiday Sundays, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve

-          When a private function takes place on the premises

2.      Functions which specifically target young people aged 18 years (for example birthday parties) will not be allowed to take place on the premises.

3.      All alcoholic drinks will be served in polycarbonate or other appropriate non-glass vessels after 20.00 hours each day and all day and night on Saturdays. Any glass bottle should be decanted during these times.

Mr T Colebourne was in attendance on behalf of the applicant and outlined the application. He emphasised the applicants’ operation and their keenness to work with local residents. He also explained that the applicant had been in contact with one of the objectors who lived next door to explain that the applicant would be adding sound proofing to address their concerns. Mr Colebourne then emphasised that the premises had operated under 12 Temporary Event Notices in the last year which were essentially the same pattern of operation as the proposed variation without complaint.

None of the Public Objectors were in attendance but the Panel noted their representations.

The Licensing Panel considered carefully all the evidence submitted and concluded that given the modest scale of the application and the conditions agreed it would not impact on the licensing objectives.

Resolved:

That the application for the variation of a Premises Licence, Christine’s Hotel 1 Lord Street be granted subject to the conditions as outlined and an additional conditioning requiring suitable sound proofing to be installed prior to the variation having effect.
