Decision:
The Executive agreed the
recommendations as outlined above namely:
- To
form an arms-length company to manage the domestic waste service at
the termination of the current contract with Veolia Environmental
Services in 2019 which will result in a projected annual saving of
£760,000.
- To
approve the Prudential Borrowing of up to £4.8m, to enable
the purchase of new refuse vehicles and the provision of upgrading
to Layton Depot. Funding to be derived
from budgetary savings, which have been identified at paragraph
5.3.4.
- To
authorise the Head of Legal after consultation with the Director of
Community and Environmental Services and other relevant officers to
draft the appropriate governance documentation to establish the
company.
