WARD GRANTS

Decision Maker: Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Tourism, Arts and Culture

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The Council's delegated budgets scheme allocates budgets of £15,000 to each Ward covered for the financial year 2020/2021. The funding for this scheme can be spent on supplementing funding public services, for the benefit of the local community.

Councillors Brookes and Critchley of Hawes Side Ward have requested £56.20 for the purchase of timber to make bird boxes for Crosslands Road Park as a community initiative. This is a retrospective payment as Councillor Brookes paid for the cost of the bird box timber at his own expense because he was able to purchase the wood for a lower cost than that quoted by the Parks service, thus saving money.

Councillors Hugo and Smith of Talbot Ward have requested £1,734 as funding to the Tourism Department for the maintenance of 17 banners promoting the Central Holiday Village along Charnley Road and replace/repair damaged ones for a further 12 month period.

Decision:

To authorise the requests, as submitted.
